Cortland Loses Non-League Game at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Katy McCullough scored three goals as host Williams College defeated Cortland, 14-3, in a non-league women's lacrosse matchup.

Cortland fell to 8-6 with the loss while the Ephs improved to 7-6. The Red Dragons have two regular-season games remaining, both in SUNYAC play, as they travel to Buffalo State on Friday and host Canton next Wednesday.

Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) led Cortland with a goal and an assist one day after becoming the fourth player in program history to reach the career 300-point mark. Her career totals are now 225 goals and 80 assists for 305 points. Isabel Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Ashley Melillo (Massapequa) each scored a goal and Brooke Elizalde (Ronkonkoma/Connetquot) notched two assists.

In addition to McCullough's three tallies, Williams received two goals apiece from Franny Donohue, Cece Tauber, Claudia Russell and Reece Willison. McKenna Dwyer finished with a goal and two assists.

Cortland goalie Trinity Parks (Port Crane/Chenango Forks) finished with nine saves. Williams starting goalie Caroline Pratt made seven saves in 54:20 of action. Charlotte Cote registered one save and didn't allow any goals over 5:40.

Cortland took the early lead on a Melillo goal, set up by Cashman, just 2:36 into the contest. Williams scored the next four goals, capped by a Willison goal with four seconds left, to take a 4-1 lead after one quarter.

The Red Dragons pulled to within 4-2 on a goal by Adams, assisted by Elizalde, 37 seconds into the second quarter. The Ephs, however, pulled away with the last three goals of the first half and the first five goals of the second half. Cashman picked up Cortland's final goal, off an assist from Elizalde, with 6:28 remaining.
