Cortland Baseball Earns Four SUNYAC Major Awards, Eight All-SUNYAC Honors

Eight members of the SUNY Cortland baseball team have been selected to the 2025 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) all-league team in a vote of the league's coaches. In addition, senior Luis Misla (Tampa, FL/Riverview) was named the SUNYAC Don Axtell Pitcher of the Year for the second straight year, sophomore first baseman Nolan Smith (Hamburg) was chosen as the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, freshman second baseman Talon Elkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) is the league's Clark V. Whited Co-Rookie of the Year, and Joe Brown has been named the Walter Nitardy Coach of the Year.
 
Misla, junior outfielder Marc Stockhausen (Bronx/St. Raymond), senior catcher Zachary Kringdon (Larchmont/Mamaroneck), sophomore pitcher Matthew Nochowitz (Glen Head/North Shore) and graduate student relief pitcher Nick Hanson (Ladera Ranch, CA/Aliso Niguel) were chosen to the All-SUNYAC first team. Senior shortstop Nick Marola (Saratoga/Scotia-Glenville), senior outfielder Chris Bonacci (Syracuse/West Genesee) and junior relief pitcher Tommy Lynch (West Seneca/Canisius) were named to the all-league second team.
Brown earned SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors for the 10th time overall and third time in the last four years. He's guided the Red Dragons to a 29-11 record, to date, including both the SUNYAC regular-season (15-3) and tournament titles. Cortland earned its 32nd straight NCAA Division III tournament berth.
