Two members of the Cortland women's lacrosse team have been selected to the 2025 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III All-Empire Region team. Graduate student attack
Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) and sophomore defender
Lexi Caron (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) were each named to the all-region second team.
Cashman garners all-region honors for the fourth straight year; she was on the second team in 2022 and the first team in 2023 and 2024. A first team All-SUNYAC selection this year, Cashman started all 18 games for the Red Dragons and scored 67 points on 45 goals and 22 assists, leading the team in both points and goals. She tallied three game-winning goals and added 27 draw controls, 21 ground balls, and 19 caused turnovers. Cashman scored a goal in 16-of-18 games, and netted multiple goals in 13 games.
Caron earns the first all-region selection of her career. The 2025 SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-SUNYAC honoree, Caron played in and started 17 games for the Red Dragons. She led the team in both ground balls, with 30, and caused turnovers, with 27, while also adding 14 draw controls and one goal. Caron anchored the Cortland defense that allowed just 8.83 goals per game for the season. She had at least one caused turnover in 13-of-17 games played and picked up at least one ground ball in 15-of-17 games.
Cortland finished the season with an 11-7 overall record and an 8-1 conference record. The Red Dragons finished second in the SUNYAC regular season and advanced to the SUNYAC Finals before losing to Oswego, 12-8 in the championship game.
