#4 Cortland Cruises to 4-0 Win at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, NY – Four different Red Dragons scored a goal, and the nationally fourth-ranked Cortland men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory at Manhattanville on Sunday afternoon. Cortland is now 5-1 on the season, while Manhattanville falls to 2-5-1.
 
Josh Carroll (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue), Scott Schuyler (Cincinnatus), Gaetano Corrao (Thornwood/Iona Prep) and Jake Hutter (Smithtown/Smithtown West) each scored a goal for Cortland. Aidan Miller (Savannah, GA/Richmond Hill) provided an assist for his first point as a Red Dragon.
 
Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, TX/Southwest Christian) made four saves in goal for his second consecutive shutout.
 
Four different players registered a shot on target for the Valiants, and AJ Lucas made three saves in goal.
 
Cortland struck first in the 15th minute on its first attempt of the contest. Miller sent a pass to Schuyler, who deposited his first goal of the season into the back of the net to give Cortland a 1-0 lead.
 
Hutter scored an unassisted goal for his first collegiate goal to double Cortland's advantage in the 26th minute. Cortland made it 3-0 in the 34th minute on Carroll's fifth goal of the year. After a foul in the 18-yard area, Carroll had his penalty kick saved by Lucas but was able to knock the rebound into the back of the net.
 
The Red Dragons held the three-goal advantage into halftime, without allowing a shot on target for Manhattanville in the first half.
 
Ott was called into action for the first time in the 69th minute, making a save on a shot Nickolas Pagan. One minute later, Ott stopped another shot by David Trujillo to keep the game at 3-0.
 
Corrao scored from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute after a foul in the 18-yard area, his second consecutive game with a goal, for Cortland's final goal.
 
Ott made two more saves, one in the 84th minute and one in the 90th minute, to secure the Red Dragons' victory.
