Cortland Drops 1-0 Overtime Decision at #23 Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Rochester's Grayson Honig scored 1:32 into the first overtime period to lift the nationally 23rd-ranked Yellowjackets past visiting Cortland, 1-0, in non-league field hockey action.

Rochester improved to 7-1 with the victory. Cortland is now 2-4, including three one-goal losses. The Red Dragons are now 2-1 this season versus nationally ranked teams.

Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) made seven saves for Cortland, including two in the fourth quarter and one in overtime. Rochester's Kara Houston made two saves for the shutout.

Rochester won the game early in the first 7-versus-7 overtime period when Honig tapped in a crossing pass from Sophia Cuneo in front of the cage off a scramble for her third goal of the season. The goal came shortly after Morgan saved a shot after a Rochester penalty corner. Two Cortland shot attempts earlier in the overtime were blocked.

Rochester finished with a 13-9 advantage in shots and a slight 6-5 edge in penalty corners.

Cortland will host William Smith Saturday at 1 p.m.
