CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland hit .318 as a team - its second-best performance of the season - and the Red Dragons swept visiting Misericordia, 25-14, 25-21, 25-15, in a non-league women's volleyball match.

Cortland (9-4) will host a tri-match Saturday with Cobleskill and Muhlenberg. The Red Dragons will celebrate Senior Day prior to their 11 a.m. match versus Cobleskill, and their match against Muhlenberg is tentatively scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Cortland finished the night with 40 kills and 13 errors in 85 attempts. Misericordia (9-5), coached by former Cortland associate head coach Colleen Stengel, ended the match with a .122 attack percentage (23 kills, 13 errors in 82 attempts).

Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West) led Cortland with 14 kills and was second on the team with 10 digs. She finished with a .276 attack percentage.
Emalee Ballou (Eden) totaled eight kills with one error in 15 attempts (.467),
Lauren Millspaugh (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson) ended with seven kills and one error in 13 attempts (.462), and
Erica Arroyo (Nesconset/Smithtown West) had five kills with no errors in 12 attempts.

Melissa O'Connor (Hauppauge) paced the Red Dragons with 18 assists and
Samantha Rodriguez (Camarillo, CA/Adolfo Camarillo) finished with 15 assists.
Sanaiya Whitted (Poughkeepsie/Franklin D. Roosevelt) led the team with five aces, followed by Rodriguez with three and O'Connor and
Alyssa Rich (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) with two apiece. Rich led the squad with 12 digs and
Anna Lynch (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy) posted a team-high five blocks, three solo.

Keira McCaffrey led the visiting Cougars with six kills and four blocks. Jenna Schuda had 14 assists and Maggie Duda registered nine digs.

Cortland used a 10-2 run to turn a tight 10-9 score into a 20-11 advantage in the opening set. The Red Dragons held an 18-17 lead in the second set before scoring four of the next five points, including kills by Millspaugh and Pirrera and a Whitted ace, to take control. The third set was tied 5-5 early on before Cortland went on a 15-6 streak to pull away.
