CORTLAND, N.Y. - Oneonta's Hobson Herlihy hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 21 seconds left and the visiting Red Dragons defeated Cortland, 79-75, in SUNYAC men's basketball action.

Cortland (8-4, 4-1 SUNYAC) led much of the game, but never by more than eight points. The lead was six at 69-63 on two
Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) free throws with 6:09 remaining, but Oneonta clawed back and eventually took a 74-73 lead on a Cam LaClair jumper with 1:01 left.

Coston's layup with 42 seconds left regained the lead for the hosts, but Herlihy's 3-pointer pushed Oneonta on top, 77-75. A Cortland potential go-ahead 3-pointer missed the mark in the closing seconds, and Herlihy sealed the win with two free throws with two seconds left.

Coston led Cortland with 24 points, matching his season high. He was 9-of-14 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line.
Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) scored 13 points, and Arcuri and
Joel Davis (Watertown) shared the team lead with eight rebounds apiece.
Kendrick Wilson (Wheatley Heights/Moravian Prep (NC)) made three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points, and
Xavier Leveille (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee) scored 10 points, including two treys.

Nate Cohen led Oneonta (6-5, 4-0 SUNYAC) with 24 points. He scored 22 points, including 6-of-8 3-point shooting in the first half, but only scored two points in the second half after getting into foul trouble. LaClair tallied 19 points and pulled down six rebounds, Herlihy scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half, and Nicholas Cortez ended with 10 points and four assists. Delano Knox led Oneonta with seven rebounds.

Cortland shot 57 percent in the first half and finished the game at 52 percent, while Oneonta shot 52 percent in the second half and ended at 46 percent. The game featured eight lead changes and six ties, and Oneonta never led by more than three points until its final two free throws.

Cortland hosts Buffalo State in SUNYAC play Tuesday at 6 p.m.
