ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team won seven individual events on its way to a 139-75 dual-meet victory at Oneonta.
The Red Dragons return to action Saturday, hosting Oswego at 1 p.m., and Cortland also will send divers to the Ithaca College Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational on Sunday.
Cortland opened by sweeping the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay.
Emma Bouwens (Hilton),
Ella Garrow (Peru),
Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) and
Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/H.S. for Health Professionals) won the event in 1:57.95, and
Erin Galligan (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy),
Tristinye Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo),
Sydney Crozier (Amherst) and
Rhianna Lynch (New Hartford) finished second (2:02.73).
Lillian Accettella (Newtown, CT) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:53.91) and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.29), while (Areiannah) Martinez-Reyes won the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.62) and was second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.02).
Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) was the 200-yard IM winner (2:24.20),
Theodora D'Amelio (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.28), Garrow was the 100-yard freestyle victor (57.96) and
Morgan Hannon (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.80).
Since Oneonta only has a 1-meter diving board, the divers completed 11 dives on that board and the scores were broken down into "5 dive" and "6 dive" scores for team scoring.
Alyssa Haberlack (Long Beach) recorded a total score of 401.90 points; she was first in the six-dive component (237.6) and second in the five-dive component (164.30).
Auttumn Ayakawa (Honolulu, HI/Coppell (TX)) finished second in the six-dive portion (233.00) and third in the five-dive portion (162.65) for a total of 395.65 points.
Other Cortland's individual runner-up finishers included:
Peyton Glor (Tonawanda/Mount Saint Mary Academy) in the 200-yard IM (2:26.45); (Tristinye) Martinez-Reyes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.03); Torres in the 100-yard freestyle (59.49); Galligan in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.23); and
Norah Eisnor (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) as an exhibition entry in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.10).
