ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Cortland men's basketball team moved into first place in the SUNYAC standings and avenged its lone league loss of the season with a 74-60 victory at Oneonta.

Cortland improved to 14-4 overall and 10-1 in the SUNYAC, while Oneonta fell to 12-7 overall and 10-2 in the conference. Oneonta won at Cortland, 79-75, on Jan. 10. Cortland leads Oneonta by a half game and is a full game up on Oswego (9-2) in the league standings. Cortland plays at New Paltz Saturday at 4 p.m.

Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) led the visiting Red Dragons with 22 points and 14 rebounds. He hit 8-of-15 shots from the field with two 3-pointers.
Joel Davis (Watertown) scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added seven rebounds, while
Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) and
Isaiah Austin (Albany) each registered nine points and four rebounds.

Nolan Raymond (Queens Village/Vermont Academy) also scored nine points for Cortland.
Gavyn Pacheco (Hopewell Junction/John Jay-East Fishkill) made two 3-pointers on his only two field goal attempts and finished with eight points.

Oneonta was paced by Nicholas Cortez with 20 points and six rebounds. Cam LaClair posted nine points and five rebounds and Pat Evans ended with seven points, six rebounds and four assists.

Cortland shot 50 percent from the field (25-of-50), including 55 percent (12-of-22) in the second half, while limiting Oneonta to 36 percent accuracy overall (20-of-56) and just 20 percent (4-of-20) from the arc.

Cortland outscored Oneonta 18-5 over the final 6:59 of the first half to take a 38-24 lead at intermission. Arcuri scored 16 of his 22 points in the opening period. Cortland extended its lead to 19 at 50-31 with 15:40 remaining, but Oneonta fought back and was within 56-48 on a Delano Knox layup with 8:56 left.

Oneonta missed a 3-pointer on its next possession with a chance to cut its deficit to five, and Cortland responded with a Davis layup and a Pacheco 3-pointer to take a 61-48 lead with 7:01 remaining. Cortland held at least a nine-point lead the rest of the contest.
