CORTLAND, NY – Bronwyn Madden scored the game-tying goal with 18 seconds remaining to salvage a 4-4 draw for Fredonia against the Cortland women's soccer team on Wednesday evening at Holloway Field in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. Cortland moves to 8-3-2 (4-0-1 SUNYAC) on the year, while Fredonia is now 7-3-3 (2-0-3 SUNYAC).

Haley Loscalzo (East Northport/Commack) netted two goals for the Red Dragons, while Gianna Cirilla (Pattersonville/Schalmont) and Leah Rehm (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) each tallied a goal.

Tyla Vuotto (Lynbrook), Cassia Schuyler (Cincinnatus), and Chloe Polito (Oceanside) all contributed an assist for Cortland.

Madden and Anna Ratchuk each finished with two goals for the Blue Devils, and Gabby Irwin finished with two assists. Alyssa Hatch made nine saves in goal for Fredonia, and also provided an assist.

Cortland opened the scoring only 89 seconds into the contest. Vuotto received a pass outside of the 18-yard area and cut around a defender, before slipping a pass to Rehm behind the Fredonia defense. Rehm then fired a shot into the top left corner of the goal for her second goal of the season.

The Red Dragons doubled their lead in the 11th minute. A cross from the right side made its way to Schuyler at the left side, who floated a pass to the right post for a header by Cirilla into the back of the goal for Cirilla's 10th goal of the year.

Only 20 seconds later, Fredonia was awarded a penalty kick in the 18-yard area after a foul in the box. Madden then stepped up and slotted the spot kick into the top right corner to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Blue Devils equalized in the 21st minute after Ratchuk ran in behind the Cortland defense and slipped a shot into the low right corner of the goal.

Cortland earned a penalty kick in the 27th minute after Piper Klammer (Mahopac) won a foul inside of the box, but Hatch was able to turn aside the Red Dragons' penalty kick and keep the game even.

Ratchuk headed home a cross from the right side from Avery Aloi in the 37th minute to give Fredonia its first lead of the game. After taking the lead, the Blue Devils had a pair of shots in the following minutes strike off of the woodwork to keep Cortland within a goal.

Loscalzo scored her second goal of the season from outside of the 18-yard area in the final minute before halftime, firing a shot into the top left corner of the net, to level the game into the break.
