CORTLAND, NY – Culley Bellino (Canastota) tied his own school record for falls in a single season, but the Cortland wrestling team dropped a dual meet to nationally 23rd-ranked Ithaca by a 33-15 score on Wednesday evening in Corey Gymnasium. The Red Dragons fall to 4-5 on the year in duals, while Ithaca improves to 11-6.
 
Bellino's 23rd pin of the year was one of three individual bout victories for the Red Dragons during the match. Combined with one technical fall this year, Bellino equaled his own mark of 24 falls that was set during his freshman campaign in 2023-24. Angelo Centrone (Mahopac) earned a win by technical fall, and Colton Havens (Canisteo/Canisteo-Greenwood) won by major decision.
 
Ithaca claimed a major decision at 125 pounds and a decision at 133 pounds in the first two bouts of the dual to take a 7-0 lead.
 
The Red Dragons responded with three straight wins to pull ahead by a 15-7 score.
 
Bellino needed just 1:38 to secure his pin at 141 pounds. After being taken down early in the first period, Bellino was able to earn a two-point reversal and then secured the pin shortly after.
 
Centrone had four takedowns in the opening period to build a 12-4 lead after three minutes at 149 pounds. In the second period, he earned three more takedowns, and added another two points right as the buzzer sounded to secure the 23-7 technical fall win in 5:00.
 
Havens held a 10-2 lead after the first period at 157 pounds. After Ithaca's Brian Bienus pulled to within seven in the second period, Havens pulled a reversal to extended the bout lead to 15-6. He added another reversal and a takedown in the third period to secure a 20-9 major decision.
 
Ithaca then responded with a pair of technical falls at 165 pounds and 174 pounds to regain a 17-15 advantage. The Bombers added a major decision at 184 pounds, and a pair of pins at 197 pounds and 285 pounds for the final 33-15 margin.
