CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland men's basketball team dominated the SUNYAC tournament championship game from start to finish and the top-seeded Red Dragons defeated third-seeded Oswego, 84-51, at Corey Gymnasium.

Cortland (23-4) won its second straight SUNYAC title and ninth conference crown overall. The Red Dragons earned back-to-back conference championships for the first time in program history and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament. The NCAA tournament field will be announced on Monday at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com.

Tournament MVP
Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) led Cortland with 26 points and added nine rebounds and four assists. He hit 8-of-11 shots from the floor, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range, and was 4-of-5 from the foul line. He was joined on the all-tournament team by
Gaige Armbrewster (Oakfield/Oakfield-Alabama) and
Xavier Leveille (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee), Oswego's Jayson McGhee, Plattsburgh's Reem Welch and Oneonta's Pat Evans.

Armbrewster scored seven points and handed out three assists. He made all three of his shots, and in two tournament games finished 10-for-10 from the field. Leveille scored 15 points, matching his second-best scoring total of the season. He was 5-of-9 from the floor with three 3-pointers, and 10 of his points came in the first half.

Also for the Red Dragons,
Nolan Raymond (Queens Village/Vermont Academy) scored eight points and handed out four assists, and
Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and added five points and three assists.

Oswego (23-5) was led by McGhee and Gary McLane with nine points each. McLane also finished with seven rebounds. Chris Whyte-Luciano and Patrick Emling scored six points.

Cortland missed its first shot but made its next seven attempts - two
Joel Davis (Watertown) layups, a Coston 3-pointer, an Arcuri 3-pointer, another Coston trey, an
Isaiah Austin (Albany) 3-pointer, and a Coston layup - to open up an 18-2 lead 5:02 into the contest. The lead grew to 27-6 just past the midway point of the half and as high as 37-11 with 5:17 left after a Leveille dunk off an alley-oop pass from Raymond.

The Red Dragons led 42-19 at halftime, shooting 55 percent from the floor (16-of-29) compared to Oswego's 21 percent (6-of-29). Cortland extended its lead to 36 points in the first 5:05 of the second half and was at least 26 the rest of the game. Cortland finished the game at 51 percent shooting overall and 47 percent (18-of-38) from deep, while holding the Lakers to 32 percent overall and 15 percent (2-of-13) from the arc.
