Tucker Macknik Chosen as SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week

Cortland senior long-stick midfielder Tucker Macknik (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 15.

Macknik earns Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after recording 17 ground balls and five caused turnovers while helping the Red Dragons allow just 12 combined goals in two victories. In a 19-7 win over Nazareth, he collected eight ground balls and caused three turnovers. Macknik followed that performance with nine ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 17-5 victory over Scranton, an NCAA qualifier from last season.

Through six games this season, Macknik has 28 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Cortland (4-2), ranked 19th in the latest USILA poll, will host Muhlenberg this Wednesday at Grady Field at 4 p.m., followed by a trip to nationally 12th-ranked St. John Fisher on Saturday at 1 p.m.
