KISSIMMEE, FLA. - The Cortland softball team registered two wins at The Spring Games in Florida, defeating Rutgers-Camden, 5-1, behind
Kaitlyn Macumber's (Deposit) one-hitter, and holding on to beat UMass Dartmouth, 3-2, after throwing out the potential tying run to end the game in the top of the seventh.

Cortland (4-5) is scheduled to wrap up its Florida trip Friday with games versus Ursinus at 10 a.m. and Endicott at 12:30 p.m.

Macumber registered her first collegiate victory, allowing one hit and one unearned run over seven innings. She struck out four and walked three. Cortland finished with nine hits, highlighted by
Kayla Pendergast (West Hempstead) finishing 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and
Shelby LaMont (Amsterdam) going 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Sammie Friel went two and a third innings for Rutgers-Camden (4-5), allowing five hits and four runs. Natalie D'Angelo gave up just one unearned run over the final four and two thirds innings. Zoie Mantzell had the Raptors' lone hit - a leadoff single in the bottom of the third.

Cortland scored in the top of the second.
Morgan Ellerbrock (Colonie) walked and was bunted to second by
Kaeli McAnally (Islip). Pendergast was hit by a pitch and, with two outs,
Sam Pusloskie (Clarence) singled to load the bases.
Laila Smith (Guilderland) followed with a walk to force in a run.

In the third,
Shannon Scotto (Putnam Valley/Lakeland) started the Red Dragons' three-run rally with a single, and pinch runner
Anj Ferrara (Niskayuna) scored on a LaMont double. A McAnally one-out single advanced LaMont to third and, after McAnally stole second, Pendergast hit a two-run double to center.

Rutgers-Camden picked up its run in the fourth on an Alana Gannon one-out walk, a groundout and an error. Cortland concluded the scoring in the top of the seventh on Ellerbrock's RBI double.

Olivia DiSalvo (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) improved to 2-0, giving up one run in five innings. She allowed five hits and no walks with one strikeout.
Gianna Endieveri (Glens Falls) pitched the final two innings and, despite giving up five hits, earned her second save of the season. She also struck out one and walked none.

Cortland opened quickly versus the Corsairs with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Maggie Cummings (Holland Patent) singled with one out and advanced to third on an Ellerbrock double. Scotto singled up the middle to drive in both runners.

UMass Dartmouth (6-2) answered with a run in the top of the second. Lily Routhier singled and went all the way to third on a Sydney Menz sac bunt. Bre Fontes singled down the left field line to drive in Routhier. Fontes was eventually stranded at second.

The Corsairs had a runner on second with one out in the third after a RaeLynn Perregaux double before DiSalvo recorded a strikeout and induced a groundout. UMD had two runner on in the fifth with one out, but the Red Dragons turned a 4-6-3 double play to end that threat. In the sixth the Corsairs had runners on first and second with no outs after back-to-back singles from Olivia Silva and Routhier. Cortland turned a bunt attempt into a force out at third, and the next two batters popped up in the infield.

Cortland scored what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to go up 3-1. Ellerbrock led off with a single and Scotto bunted her to second. With two outs, McAnally singled down the right field line to drive in the run.

In the seventh, pinch hitter Lena Tsonis singled with one out, and with two outs Nina O'Neil singled to move re-entered runner Chloe Edwards to second. Silva followed by hitting a sinking liner down the right field line for a double. Edwards scored, but pinch runner Liv Matos was thrown out trying to score from first on a relay from right fielder Pusloskie to first baseman Scotto to catcher Smith to end the game.

McAnally finished 3-for-3 with an RBI, Ellerbrock was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Scotto went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Perregaux, Silva and Routhier each had two hits as part of UMass Dartmouth's 10-hit attack. Edy Crawford went the distance in the circle for the Corsairs, allowing nine hits and no walks with one strikeout.
