SUNY Cortland will be the host and the Red Dragon women's gymnastics team will be one of six teams competing for a national title at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NGCA) national championships on Friday, March 20. The championship begins at 2 p.m., with doors open to the public at 12:30 p.m.

For fans interested in attending, tickets are being sold ONLINE ONLY AT THIS SITE. Tickets are $11 for adults, $8 for senior citizens ages 65 and up, and $6 for general admission youth ages 5-17, and for college students. Those prices include a $1 per ticket service fee. Championship programs can also be purchased online for $6 and picked up at the meet.

Cortland is looking to win its first team national title, competing against Brockport, Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The meet also includes individual qualifiers from other schools. In addition to the team title, individual titles in each event, as well as the all-around, will be given to the top finisher. The top eight finishers in each event will earn All-America honors.

Cortland has won 17 individual national titles at the NCGA Championships, as well as one U.S. Gymnastics Federation (USGF) title. Head coach Sulekha Modi Zaug was also a three-time national champion on the uneven bars.  The most recent individual national title for a Red Dragon was Emma Schulz in 2019, who won on floor exercise.

Last year, Cortland finished fourth nationally at the championship meet, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus in Minnesota. The Red Dragons had two All-Americans - Tayah Graham on vault (tied for third place) and Autumn Adkins on uneven bars (tied for eighth place)- giving Cortland 151 All-America honors since 1984.

Twice this season, Cortland has broken the school record for team score. The Red Dragons posted a score of 192.80 in a dual meet at Ithaca on Feb. 11, and then broke that mark with a 193.00 to finish second at the NCGA East Regional at Rhode Island College on March 7. The top two teams from that East Regional (Brockport and Cortland) automatically qualified for nationals, along with the top two finishers at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wisconsin-Whitewater). Wisconsin-La Crosse  and Wisconsin-Eau Claire earned at-large berths into nationals based on their Team Seasonal Average Score (SAS), which factors in the best four performances by teams during the season, with certain criteria being applied.

Entering nationals, Cortland athletes ranked in the top 20 nationally in SAS in individual events included:

Tayah Graham - tied 6th, Vault (9.75)
Tessa Sutton - 10th, Floor Exercise (9.7875)
Autumn Adkins - tied 11th, Floor Exercise (9.7813)
Samantha Meadows - 12th, Balance Beam (9.7348)
Shyann Bootman - tied 17th, Floor Exercise (9.7625)
Gianna Mirigliano - tied 20th, Vault (9.6875)
