Cortland junior third baseman
Katie Stork (Massapequa) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 23.
Stork earns Athlete of the Week honors after batting .500 (7-for-14) with a triple, two doubles, five RBI and three runs scored in a 5-0 week for the Red Dragons in Florida. She posted a .533 on-base percentage and a .786 slugging percentage for the week. Stork went 2-for-3 with three RBI in a 12-4 win over Ursinus and finished 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored in a 5-1 victory versus Endicott. She also doubled and drove in two runs in a 4-2 win over Wisconsin-Platteville. Defensively, Stork handled 17 fielding chances at third base (10 assists, seven putouts) without committing an error.
Stork has started all 10 games in which she has appeared this spring and is batting .346 with three doubles, a triple, five RBI and three runs scored. Defensively, she has 19 assists and 13 putouts without an error.
Cortland (6-5) will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Manhattanville University and Western Connecticut State University for doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
