AUBURN, N.Y. - The nationally 17th-ranked Cortland baseball team scored at least once in each of the first six innings and the Red Dragons defeated Keuka College, 10-1, in a non-league game Wednesday evening at Falcon Park in Auburn.

Cortland (3-2-1) outhit the Wolves, 14-5.
Tristan Gatchalian (Manorville/Eastport-South Manor) went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, RBI and two runs,
Lucas Granger (Horseheads) was 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and two runs scored,
Logan Karwowski (Clay/Cicero-North Syracuse) was 2-for-3, and
Trey McGowan (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Connor Lynch (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) went 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and two RBI and
Talon Elkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs.
Nick Vendola (White Plains) finished 1-for-3 with a walk.

Joe Yovino (Levittown/Division Avenue), the first of seven Cortland pitchers in a predetermined rotation. tossed three shutout innings for the win. He allowed an infield single and a walk and struck out three. Among Cortland's relievers,
Xander Payne (Medina) and
Aaron Knuutila (Lockport) each tossed a perfect inning in the fourth and seventh innings, respectively.

Anthony Sampo (Syracuse/Westhill),
Luke Boule (Syracuse/Christian Brothers Academy) and
Eli Stowe (Poughkeepsie/Millbrook) each pitched a scoreless inning, and the lone run allowed by
Kyle Majka (Clinton) in the sixth inning was unearned. Cortland's defense turned four double plays.

Keuka, playing its season opener, was led by Dan Mrowinski and Zach Elinich, who each finished 1-for-3. Owen Garvey came off the bench and had a hit in his only plate appearance, and Alex Evans walked twice and scored a run.

Lucas Gilbert stared for the Wolves and allowed two runs, one earned, in two innings. He was the first of six Keuka pitchers. Ryan Schur Jr. and Liam Eshelman did not allow runs in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively.

Cortland scored in the first without a hit as Elkins walked with one out, stole second, moved to third on a groundout and came home on a wild pitch. Lynch's RBI groundout in the second made it 2-0, and Elkins and Gatchalian had RBI singles in the third to extend the lead to 4-0.

McGowan singled home a run in the fourth and Lynch had an RBI single in the fifth to make it 6-0. Keuka scored in the sixth on a throwing error after Mrowinski's infield single, but Cortland put up four runs in the bottom of the inning on a
Nolan Smith (Hamburg) RBI double, an error after a Granger bunt single and a
Jack Lawless (Rome/Rome Free Academy) RBI fielder's choice, along with a run on a double play groundout when
Carter Corbett (Skaneateles/St. Paul's (NH)) hustled and scored from second.

Cortland heads to nationally fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins for a doubleheader on Saturday, and on Sunday the Red Dragons will face NYU in a doubleheader played at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania.
