Erin Glickert Stepping Down as Cortland Women's Volleyball Head Coach

Erin Glickert, the SUNY Cortland women's volleyball head coach since 2019, has announced she is leaving the position at the end of the 2026 spring semester.

"I have decided to step down as the head volleyball coach at SUNY Cortland," said Glickert. "After a lot of thought, I realized this is the right season for me to spend more time with my family while my kids are still young.

"Cortland has great people, a strong culture, a lot of momentum, and so much to offer the right student-athletes. I believe the next coach is going to be walking into a really special situation. I would like to thank Cortland for giving me the opportunity to lead this program for the past seven years, and thank all the administrators, support staff, coaches, student-athletes, alumni, and Cortland Athletics family that are integral to the success of our teams. You all make this an amazing place to get to coach."

In her seven years at Cortland, including six on-court seasons, Glickert led the Red Dragons to a combined 149-39 record (.793). The program won at least 22 matches in each of her seasons. Glickert was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and she was voted as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Region 3 Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2024.

In the five-year span between 2021-25, Cortland won five straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) regular-season and tournament titles. The Red Dragons did not lose a SUNYAC match during that stretch, going 9-0 in the regular season in each of those seasons along with two SUNYAC tournament victories each year. In Glickert's first year at the helm in 2019, Cortland tied for third in the SUNYAC tournament after not qualifying for the conference playoffs the previous season.

Cortland played in five straight NCAA Division III tournaments from 2021-25, winning first-round matches in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

"It has been a true pleasure to have Erin on our staff for the past seven years here at Cortland," said Mike Urtz, Cortland's director of athletics. "She elevated the program to a highly competitive level and created an environment which her student-athletes truly cherished and excelled in. More importantly, Erin is just such a great person and really fit in well with all of our staff. She will be truly missed."

A national search for Glickert's replacement will be underway soon.
