Bridie McGuire Named SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week

Cortland junior defender Bridie McGuire (Manorville/Eastport-South Manor) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 5.

McGuire earns Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after totaling 12 ground balls, four caused turnovers, four draw controls and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Red Dragons. She recorded six ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls, along with an assist, in a 14-2 win over Oneonta, and added six ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 15-5 victory at New Paltz as Cortland allowed just 3.5 goals per game on the week.

McGuire leads the Red Dragons this season in ground balls with 31 and is second in caused turnovers with 15.

Cortland (8-3, 4-0 SUNYAC) will travel to Canton this Wednesday at 4 p.m. and will host Morrisville this Saturday at 12 p.m.
