Cortland Softball Earns Seven All-SUNYAC Honors

Seven members of the SUNY Cortland softball team have been chosen to the 2026 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) all-conference team in a vote of the league's coaches. Junior second baseman Maggie Cummings (Holland Patent), freshman outfielder Morgan Ellerbrock (Colonie) and senior catcher Shelby LaMont (Amsterdam) were named to the all-league first team. Freshman pitcher Olivia DiSalvo (Scotch Plains/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), senior first baseman Shannon Scotto (Putnam Valley/Lakeland), sophomore catcher/designated player Laila Smith (Guilderland) and junior third baseman Katie Stork (Massapequa) were selected to the second team.

Cummings is a first-team honoree for the second straight year. She's started 36 games this season and is batting .356 with 12 doubles, 16 RBI, 25 runs and a Division III national-leading 24 hit by pitches. She leads the Red Dragons with 13 stolen bases. Cummings hit .488 with 10 doubles and 12 RBI in 17 SUNYAC regular-season games.

DiSalvo is 9-4 in the circle this spring with a 1.81 ERA in 19 appearances, 14 as a starter. She's struck out 50 batters with 17 walks in 73 and a third innings. DiSalvo finished 5-1 in eight SUNYAC regular-season games with a 1.66 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 33 and two thirds innings.

Scotto is an All-SUNYAC selection for the second time; she was a first-team shortstop as a sophomore in 2024. This spring, she's hitting .291 with 21 RBI in 36 starts, and in 16 league games she batted .340 with 11 RBI.

Smith repeated as a All-SUNYAC first-team selection; she was primarily a third baseman last year but has served as mainly a catcher and designated player this season. Smith is hitting .336 with nine doubles, a shared team-high three homers, 27 RBI and a team-high 34 runs scored, and she's stolen 10 bases. In 17 league games, 16 as a starter, she batted .417 with six doubles, 17 RBI and nine steals.
