Cortland senior catcher
Shelby LaMont (Amsterdam) has been chosen as a 2026 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Softball third-team All-American. LaMont is Cortland's first softball All-American since 2021, and she's the first-ever catcher in program history to earn an All-America award.

LaMont started 39 games this past season, seeing time at both catcher and designated player. She led the Red Dragons with a .405 batting average, three homers, 16 doubles and 43 RBI, and she also finished with 22 runs scored and 11 walks. LaMont registered 18 multi-hit and nine multi-RBI games, and she closed the season with a .986 fielding percentage.

LaMont homered, doubled twice and drove in six runs in a home victory versus Fredonia, went 4-for-4 with five RBI in a win at Plattsburgh, and drove in four runs in a home win over Buffalo State. She was a combined 6-for-8 in a doubleheader sweep of visiting Clarkson and went 3-for-3 in a win versus Ursinus in Florida.

In her two seasons at Cortland after transferring from St. Joseph's University (Pa.), LaMont played in 68 games and batted .361 with 55 RBI.

Cortland finished the season with a 27-17 record to reach the 20-win plateau for the 29th straight full season. Cortland finished second in the SUNYAC regular season with a 13-5 league record and won the conference postseason tournament to earn its second straight NCAA berth. The Red Dragons finished second with a 2-2 record at a four-team regional hosted by Moravian University to tie for 17th place nationally.
