Sean Kavanagh (North Canton, OH/Hoover) has been named the 2026 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year and sophomore defender
James Sullivan (Rockville Centre/South Side) has been chosen as the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, as the conference announced its all-conference teams and major award winners on Wednesday. Head coach
Lelan Rogers and his assistants were also selected as the SUNYAC Paul Rose Coaching Staff of the Year for the second year in a row.
Twelve Cortland players were named to the All-SUNYAC teams, five on the first team and seven on the second team. Kavanagh and Sullivan were joined as first team All-SUNYAC selections by sophomore offensive midfielder

Kavanagh claims his first SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year award and is a first team All-SUNYAC selection for the second year in a row. The junior leads the team with 98 points on 47 goals and 51 assists in just 18 games, and his 98 points are the second-most points in a single season in program history. Kavanagh recorded at least one point in every game he played, and recorded three or more points in 16-of-18 contests. He also leads the conference and ranks 17th nationally with 5.44 points per game.
Sullivan is the third Cortland players to receive SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and second winner in the last two seasons. He also jumps up to a first team all-conference honoree after earning SUNYAC Rookie of the Year and second team All-SUNYAC recognition last season. Starting all 19 games so far on defense, he leads the team with 22 caused turnovers, and has added 40 ground balls, and three points on one goal and two assists. Sullivan has at least one caused turnover in 11-of-19 games, and was chosen to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team after recording two caused turnovers and seven ground balls in the conference championship game.
Volk earns the first all-conference nod of his career in his sophomore season. He has played in all 19 games with 16 starts, and is fourth on the team with 35 points on 28 goals and seven assists, while also adding 12 ground balls and one caused turnover. Volk has recorded at least one goal in 14-of-19 games for the Red Dragons so far.
Bowen completes his four-year career with his fourth all-conference award, and second straight selection to the first team. The senior has played in and started 18 games, recording 20 caused turnovers and 38 ground balls. He has had at least one caused turnover in 11 games, and is part of the Cortland defense that ranks 10th in the nation in scoring defense.
Macknik is also receiving his second consecutive first team All-SUNYAC honor. The senior has played in 18 games, and has provided 74 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers, along with two goals this season. Macknik has at least one ground ball in every game that he's played, and has at least one caused turnover in 11 contests.
Stoecker earns the first all-conference award of his career in his senior season. Playing in and starting 18 games, he's second on the team with 89 points on 58 goals and 31 assists, while adding seven caused turnovers and 31 ground balls. Stoecker has scored multiple goals in 15-of-18 contests, and has five or more points in 12 games this season. He was selected to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team after tallying nine goals and five assists in two conference tournament contests.
Swedlund is also an all-conference selection for the first time. The junior broke Cortland's single-season record with 60 goals, and also added seven assists for 67 points, along with 26 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Starting all 19 games so far, he has scored at least one goal in every contest, including registering three goals or more in 11 games. Swedlund scored eight goals and added two assists in two conference tournament games to earn SUNYAC All-Tournament Team honors.
Neeson is an all-conference honoree for the first time in his career. The junior has played in 15 games with 13 starts, contributing 30 points on 14 goals and 16 assists, along with 18 ground balls. Neeson has had at least one point in 13-of-15 games for Cortland, along with multiple points in nine contests.
Violi completes his senior season with a first all-league nod. Playing in 17 games with nine starts, he's scored 27 points on 16 goals and 11 assists, as well as adding six caused turnovers and 16 ground balls. Violi has also registered at least one goal in 14-of-17 games played.
Cosgrove earned an all-conference in his second season with the Red Dragons. Playing in 18 games, the sophomore has 48 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and has added four points on two goals and two assists. He's also been a significant contributor to the Cortland defense that ranks 10th in the nation in scoring defense. Cosgrove has at least two ground balls in 15-of-17 games for Cortland.
Miltenberger is named an all-conference selection for the first time. Playing in 18 games, he's won 191-of-262 faceoffs for the Red Dragons, with a .729 winning percentage that is first in the conference and eighth in the country. Miltenberger has also secured a team-best 93 ground balls, and has eight points on five goals and three assists. He was chosen as the SUNYAC Tournament MVP after winning 32-of-36 faceoffs (.889), scooping up 19 ground balls, and adding two goals and an assist in two conference tournament games.
Falowski has started all 19 games this season on the way to his first all-conference selection. He has sported a 14-5 record, a 56.8% save percentage, and a 7.94 goals-against average for the year, and ranks 11th in the nation in goals-against average. The junior made at least five saves in 16-of-19 games, including recording 10 saves or more in a game seven times.

Scott Klami. Cortland finished a third consecutive season with a perfect 7-0 mark in league play, outscoring conference opponents by a 182-36 margin over the seven games. The Red Dragons also lead the nation in scoring offense at 19.89 goals per game and in scoring margin at +12.53. Cortland has a 14-5 overall record and earned a second-straight SUNYAC title with a 36-3 victory over Plattsburgh in the semifinals and an 18-7 win over Oneonta in the conference title game. Cortland hosts Western New England on Grady Field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round of the NCAA Div. III tournament.
