La PLUME, PA. - The Cortland women's volleyball team finished 3-0 at the Keystone Spirit of Service Classic after posting two convincing victories during the second day of the tournament on Saturday. The Red Dragons defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 25-9, 25-9, 25-14, followed by a 25-10, 25-12, 25-7 win over the host Giants.
 
Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West) set a school single-match hitting percentage record in the win over Keystone, putting down 13 kills with no errors in 14 attempts for a .929 mark. The previous record, with a minimum of 10 attempts, was set by Kate Hachadourian with an .867 percentage (14 kills, one error in 15 attempts) versus NYU in 1999.
 
Cortland posted a .302 team attack percentage in the win over Mount Saint Vincent. Lauren Millspaugh (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson) finished with eight kills and no errors in 10 attempts for an .800 attack percentage and Sanaiya Whitted (Poughkeepsie/Franklin D. Roosevelt) had seven kills and no errors in 14 attempts for a .500 attack percentage.
 
Pirrera also finished the match without an attack error, recording five kills in 14 swings. Reese Chudoba (Hamburg) ended with four kills, and Pirrera and Sarah Taggart (Buffalo/Williamsville South) each served five aces. Bianca Sapano (Floral Park/Kellenberg Memorial) led Cortland with 11 digs and Melissa O'Connor (Hauppauge) finished with eight assists.
 
Alysa Padgett led MSV (2-5) with four kills.
 
Cortland did not trail the entire match. Each set was tied only once at 1-1 before the Red Dragons took control.
 
In the nightcap, Cortland sailed past Keystone behind a team .418 attack percentage, recording 34 kills and just six errors in 67 attempts. In addition to Pirrera's 13 kills in 14 attempts, Cortland got eight kills with no errors in 10 attempts from Whitted (.800) and four kills from Abigail McGaughey (Palmdale, CA/Desert Christian).
 
Taggart served five aces for the second straight match, and Samantha Rodriguez (Camarillo, CA/Adolfo Camarillo) finished with five aces and 13 assists. Audrey Cimo (Orchard Park) and Corrine Jarc (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) each ended with three aces, and Sapano posted a team-high eight digs. Whitted and Cassidy Cone (Penfield) each finished with three blocks.
 
Nat Reyes had eight digs and two aces for Keystone (1-8).
 
Cortland trailed only once at 1-0 in the opening set.
 
Cortland (4-2) will travel to Michigan next Friday and Saturday for the Calvin University Invitational.
