ITHACA, NY – The nationally 10th-ranked Cortland men's soccer team played to a scoreless on the road at Ithaca on Wednesday evening.
Cortland is now 5-1-1, while Ithaca is 7-0-2 on the season. This is the second consecutive year that the teams played to a 0-0 tie.
Five different players finished with a shot on goal for Cortland, while
Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, TX/Southwest Christian) made six saves for his fifth shutout of the season.
Brayden Milbrandt stopped five shots for the Bombers, and six Ithaca players registered a shot on goal.
Ithaca's Edin Estrada forced Ott into making his first save of the contest in the third minute, and neither team registered a shot on goal for the next 40 minutes of action until Gabriel Robinson took a shot that was saved by Ott with only 14 seconds remaining in the half to keep the game scoreless into the break.
The Bombers thought that they had taken the lead in the 57th minute when Ott made a save on Colin Adams and the rebound was tapped into the goal, but the assistant referee raised his flag for offsides and the goal was disallowed.
Diego Rivera (East Meadow/Cairo-Durham) recorded Cortland's first shot on goal in the 58th minute, which Milbrandt was able to stop in the center of the goal.
The Cortland defense held Ithaca to just one shot on goal over the final half-hour of action, and the Red Dragons had four shots on goal of their own during that time, but neither team was able to break the deadlock, and the game finished scoreless.
