Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CORTLAND, NY – The Cortland women's volleyball team earned a three-set sweep of Brockport and then held off a late rally from Williams for a five-set victory, as the Red Dragons earned a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match hosted in Corey Gymnasium. Cortland also honored its four seniors with a Senior Day celebration prior to the Brockport match: Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West), Erica Arroyo (Nesconset/Smithtown West), Anna Lynch (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy), and Samantha Rodriguez (Camarillo, CA/Adolfo Camarillo).
 
Cortland defeated Brockport, 25-20, 25-14, 25-12 in the opening match of the day. Williams then earned a sweep over Brockport in the second match, before the Red Dragons defeated the Ephs, 25-22, 16-25, 25-17, 28-30, 16-14, in the final contest. With the two wins, Cortland moves to 6-5 on the season, while Brockport ends the day at 6-5 and Williams is now 8-4.
 
Sarah Taggart (Buffalo/Williamsville South) had a career-best 31 digs and eight assists against Williams, while three Red Dragons finished in double figures in kills. Pirrera posted 15 kills, Reese Chudoba (Hamburg) added 11 kills on a .300 attack percentage, and Sanaiya Whitted (Poughkeepsie/Franklin D. Roosevelt) chipped in 10 kills. Lynch and Chudoba both registered seven total blocks.
 
Eve Kaplan had 29 digs for Williams, and Kate Lane had 15 kills and 12 digs for the Ephs. Adalena Rodgers chipped in 11 kills and nine digs, and Keely Campuzano had 14 kills and seven digs.
 
Cortland led 20-16 in the first set, before the Ephs rattled off five straight points for a 21-20 advantage. The Red Dragons immediately responded with a block by Lauren Millspaugh (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson), an ace from Bianca Sapano (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial), and kill by Whitted, and then Millspaugh closed out the set victory with a kill.
 
Williams jumped out to an early 13-7 lead in the second set on the way to tying the match. With the teams tied at 13-13 in the third set, the Red Dragons won 12 of the final 16 points, and each of the final four points, to regain a 2-1 advantage. During the run, Whitted contributed three kills, and Lynch had a solo block and a combo block with Chudoba for the final two points of the set.
 
Cortland led by as many as nine in the fourth set, and held a 21-13 edge after back-to-back kills by Lynch and Millspaugh. However, Williams battled back and fought off five Cortland match points in the set to force a tiebreaking fifth set.
 
Neither team led by more than three points during a back-and-forth final set. Cortland led 13-11, before Williams tied the score with a kill by Lane and an ace by Maya Thompson. After a service error on the following point, Cortland had its sixth match point denied by Williams, before Lynch and Chudoba combined on a block, and Chudoba and Millspaugh teamed up for another block on back-to-back plays to give the Red Dragons the win.
 
Against Brockport, Cortland forced the Golden Eagles into a negative attack percentage at -.062 for the match. Pirrera had 10 kills and 16 digs, while Millspaugh provided six kills on a .353 attack percentage, seven blocks, and four aces. Taggart had 12 digs and eight assists, and the 12 digs were a career-best before her stellar performance against Williams. Sapano also finished with four aces and had eight digs.
 
Brockport's Grace Ippolitti had a team-best 12 digs, and Kaitlyn Jewett added seven assists and eight digs.
 
After losing the first three points of the opening set, the Red Dragons won 12 of the next 14 points to take a 12-5 lead. Brockport battled back to tie the score at 16-16, before Cortland finished off the set with 9-of-13 points, including three straight on a kill by Whitted, a solo block by Lynch, and a kill by Pirrera to close the set.
 
Cortland raced out to a 12-5 lead in the second set and extended the lead into double figures at 17-7. Brockport brought the Cortland lead down to just eight points, but the Red Dragons kept a comfortable cushion and took a 2-1 set advantage after a kill by Chudoba to end the set.
 
The Red Dragons completed the sweep in decisive fashion, scoring 13 consecutive points behind a serving run from Sapano to turn a 12-12 tie into a 25-12 victory. Pirrera contributed four kills in the run, Millspaugh and Whitted each added two kills, Rodriguez had a kill, and Sapano added one ace for the victory.
