Andrew Mead begins his first season as an assistant coach on the Cortland baseball staff in 2009 after a three-year professional career in the Chicago White Sox organization.
A four-year member of the Red Dragons, Mead ranks in the top 10 in nine career offensive categories. He is the program leader with 235 base hits and is second with 13 triples, 167 runs, 140 RBI, 348 total bases and 184 games played. As a freshman, Mead was named the SUNYAC First Year Player of the Year, second team all-region and first team All-ECAC and All-SUNYAC.
After his junior season, Mead earned second team All-America honors and was the ECAC Upstate New York and SUNYAC Player of the Year. Following his senior year, he was named second team all-region and all-conference and selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 2006 professional baseball draft.
A native of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Mead was a three-year starter in football, basketball and baseball at C.W. Baker High School and was named a preseason All-American in baseball prior to his senior season by USA Today.
