Mike Howell joined the Cortland baseball coaching staff in 2010. Howell, who played one season with the Red Dragons after transferring from SUNY Oneonta, was selected in the 33rd round of the 2001 professional baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers.
While at Cortland, Howell earned first team All-America, all-region, All-ECAC and All-SUNYAC honors after posting an 11-1 record with 109 strikeouts and a 2.38 ERA in 13 appearances in his only season. The wins and strikeouts remain Cortland single-season records.
