Former Red Dragon standout Ben Nagle begins his second season on the Cortland football staff in 2013. He will work with the team’s outside linebackers this season after assisting with the team’s defensive line in 2012.

Nagle played at Cortland from 2005-08. As a junior defensive end in 2007, he recorded 73 tackles and team highs of nine sacks and 16.5 total tackles for losses in 11 starts. He earned first-team All-East honors and was the MVP of the ECAC Northeast Bowl after recording four sacks and three forced fumbles in a win over Union.

During his senior campaign in 2008, Nagle started all 13 games for the Red Dragon squad that advanced to the NCAA Div. III quarterfinals. He was a third-team All-American and first-team All-East and All-ECAC selection and finished with 72 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 13.5 total tackles for losses.

Following his football career, Nagle played one season for Cortland’s men’s basketball team during the 2009-10 school year. He started all 27 games and averaged 6.4 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game while earning the team’s Red Dragon Award.

The Rochester, N.Y., native graduated from Cortland in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and is a 2005 graduate of Aquinas Institute.
