Isaac Hicks III begins his first season on Cortland’s coaching staff working with the team’s defensive backs.
Hicks played in 40 games, 34 as a starter, during his four seasons as a safety for the Red Dragons from 2015-18. He finished with career totals of 211 tackles (134 solo), nine interceptions, six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
As a senior, Hicks earned All-Empire 8 honors after finishing third on the team with 68 tackles and intercepting two passes. As a junior he also ranked third on the squad with 73 tackles and registered a team-best four interceptions. He recorded 10 tackles and an interception in Cortland’s New York Bowl victory at Union.
A native of Staten Island, Hicks graduated from Curtis High in 2015. He was a Staten Island all-star in football and also was a two-year starter on the lacrosse team.
