Recruiting Areas: Sections 4 and 9
Jake Spalik begins his first season on the Cortland coaching staff in 2019. He will serve as the team’s special teams coordinator and will coach tight ends.
Spalik coached wide receivers at Stevenson University in Maryland during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In his first season the Mustangs set or reestablished 14 team offensive records and eight individual offensive records while averaging more than 28 points and 400 yards of total offense per game. The team ranked 11th nationally with 3,359 total passing yards. During Spalik’s two years at Stevenson the Mustangs were a combined 14-8 and played in two postseason bowl games.
Spalik graduated from Brockport in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and earned a master’s degree in athletic administration in 2017. A standout wide receiver for the Golden Eagles, he finished as the program’s leader in receptions for a career (220), season (73) and single game (12), and he also set the school record with 2,585 career receiving yards. The four-year starter earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors three times and was a team captain as a senior.
After completing his playing career, Spalik coached wide receivers at Brockport for three years and served as junior varsity head coach in 2016.
