Kyle Gallagher joined the Cortland coaching staff in 2022 and assisted with the team's wide receivers that fall. He was promoted to wide receivers coach in February 2023.

During Cortland's 2023 national championship run, Gallagher coached two receivers - Cole Burgess and JJ Laap - who each signed with NFL teams as free agents following the season. They combined for 157 receptions for 2,666 yards and 30 touchdowns, with Burgess earning All-America honors.

Gallagher served as an assistant coach working with the running backs and quarterbacks for the Virginia Armada of Major League Football. From 2019-22, he was an assistant coach at Maine-Endwell High School, helping the program win the 2021 New York State Class B title.

Gallagher graduated from Cornell Univeristy in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in industrial labor relations and earned a master's of management studies from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business in 2019. Gallagher was a football quarterback and baseball outfielder at Cornell from 2014-18, and continued his baseball career at Duke in the 2018-19 school year. He was second on Duke's team with eight home runs in 2019 and earned a spot on the 2019 NCAA Morgantown Regional all-tournament team.

An Endwell native, Gallagher earned New York State Player of the Year honors as a starting quarterback at Maine-Endwell High School. He earned two all-state honors and helped lead the program to three state titles.
