Matt Morgante started the 2018 season as a defensive back on the Red Dragon roster but had to retire due to an injury and took over a role as a student assistant coach working with the team's defensive backs. The Lincolndale, N.Y., native is a 2015 graduate of Somers High School. He attended Hobart College during the 2015-16 school year before transferring to Cortland. At Somers, Morgante was a cornerback and running back who earned all-section and all-state honors and was named the Section One Class A Co-Back of the Year.
