Mike Conners begins his third season on the Cortland football coaching staff in 2024 assisting with the defensive line.

Conners spent 25 years as the head wrestling coach in the Fulton City School District from 1987-2012 and also coached the Fulton football team for 15 years. He helped lead Fulton's football team to the Section Three title and an appearance in the state finals in 2000. Among the players he coached at Fulton was current Cortland head coach Curt Fitzpatrick. Conners has also coached and served as athletic director at Oswego High School, and he's been an assistant coach for the SUNY Oswego wrestling team.

Conners earned a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University in 1984 and a master's degree in 1986. He competed in football and wrestling for four seasons at St. Lawrence. Conners was a three-time All-America wrestler, winning the national heavyweight title as a senior in 1984, and he won four conference titles. He's a member of the Division III National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the St. Lawrence Athletic Hall of Fame.

A Baldwinsville, N.Y., native, Conners and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children, Michael and Timothy.
