Patrick Rotchford was named Cortland's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in June 2020 and was promoted to associate head coach in September 2024.

During the 2023 season, Rotchford was named the FootballScoop national Division III Coordinator of the Year after the Red Dragons set school records of 46.2 points and 509.2 total offensive yards per game (7,638 total) during their run to the NCAA Division III title. Cortland scored 35 or more points in 13 of its 15 games, including a school record-tying 73 in a win at Hartwick, and four Red Dragon offensive players earned All-America honors.

In his first season on the field at Cortland in the fall of 2021, Rotchford helped the Red Dragons set a then-school single-season record with 41.4 points per game along with 4,856 yards of total offense. In the fall of 2022, Cortland improved on those numbers with 45.1 points and 499.6 total offensive yards per game (5,496 yards total), including a school-record 681 yards in a win over Wittenberg. Cortland qualified for the NCAA playoffs in each of those seasons.

Rotchford spent six seasons from 2014-19 as an assistant coach at Morrisville State. He was responsible for coaching the offensive line and was the team’s running game coordinator, served as the program’s recruiting coordinator, and was promoted to associate head coach in the summer of 2018.

Rotchford helped lead the Mustangs’ offensive unit that ranked second in the Empire 8 in 2019 in scoring and total offense and was first in passing offense. Morrisville also rated second in the league in scoring and rushing in 2017, third in rushing in 2016, and led the conference in total offense and rushing in 2015. In his first season at Morrisville in 2014, the Mustangs claimed a share of the New Jersey Athletic Conference title and led the conference in scoring and total offense while ranking 13th nationally in Division III in total offense and rushing. Morrisville won an ECAC bowl game in 2014 and also earned ECAC postseason berths in 2018 and 2019.

Prior to Morrisville, Rotchford was an assistant coach for three seasons at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in California. He served as offensive coordinator for two years and also held the positions of offensive line coach (2013), quarterbacks coach (2012) and running backs coach (2011). From 2009-11, Rotchford was a graduate assistant, assistant offensive line coach and JV head coach at St. Ambrose University in Iowa, and he served as offensive line coach at MacMurray College in Illinois during the 2008-09 school year.

A native of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Rotchford is a 2007 graduate of St. John Fisher College. During his four-year career as an offensive lineman with the Cardinals he helped the program post a combined 38-10 record, win two Empire 8 titles and make four postseason appearances. The Cardinals went 12-2 and advanced to the NCAA Division III semifinals in his senior year in 2006, went 10-2 and advanced to the NCAA second round in 2004, and qualified for ECAC bowl games in 2003 and 2005.

Following graduation in 2007, Rotchford enjoyed an internship with the Buffalo Bills as a player personnel/scouting intern before beginning his collegiate coaching career. He earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership from St. Ambrose in 2011.

Rotchford and his wife, Erin, were married in the summer of 2022 and reside in DeWitt with their son, Henry, who was born in October of 2024.
