Ryan Heasley served on the Cortland football coaching staff in 2019 as an offensive assistant and is rejoining the team in the spring of 2021 working with tight ends and the offensive line. He brought 18 years of coaching experience to the Red Dragons, most recently at Division I St. Francis University (Pa.) where he coached the offensive line in 2017 and 2018. Heasley served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Ithaca College for five seasons from 2012-16. He helped the Bombers win back-to-back Empire 8 titles and make NCAA Division III playoff appearances in 2013 and 2014. Ithaca earned Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year during both of those seasons.
The Pittsburgh native spent one year as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Providence High School in North Carolina after coaching three seasons at Division I Davidson University from 2008-10. Heasley also coached for five years at Washington University in St. Louis, helping the Bears win University Athletic Association crowns in 2003 and 2004. He started his coaching career at Marietta College (Ohio) in 2001.
A 1999 graduate of Bethany College, Heasley played three seasons for the Bison and served as team captain. He was a two-time all-conference honoree and won the 1997 Bison Award, given to a senior for outstanding enthusiasm, dedication and leadership toward the program.
Ryan and his wife, Nicole, reside in Lansing with their daughters, Emma and Erin.
