Stephen Thomas enters his second season on the Cortland coaching staff in 2008. He will oversee the team’s entire group of defensive backs this fall after working with cornerbacks in 2007. Among the players he coached during his first season was Cortland career interception leader Jeff Beck.
Prior to Cortland, Thomas was a volunteer assistant coach at Brooklyn Technical High School. A 2006 graduate of the University at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Thomas was a three-year letterwinner on the football team.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Thomas is a 2001 graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School. He is single and currently resides in Cortland.
