Tom Murphy returns for a third season on the Cortland staff in 2012. He will coach the team’s running backs as well as the punters and kickers after coaching outside linebackers in 2010 and 2011. The Cortland native coached the varsity football and modified boys’ lacrosse teams at Cortland High School from 2006-09 and also coached junior varsity football and lacrosse and modified boys’ basketball from 2000-01.
Murphy graduated from Mansfield University in 1996 with a degree in criminal justice administration. He played four seasons on the offensive line for the Division II Mountaineers from 1990-93 and was a forward on the basketball team during the 1994-95 season. Murphy also spent time as an assistant on the Mansfield basketball staff from 1995-96. A 1990 Cortland High alumnus, Murphy earned all-league honors in football, basketball and lacrosse on the scholastic level. Murphy and his wife, Judie, have three children – Adrianna (9), Kaedyn (7) and Thomas (4).
