Ben Walters

Ben Walters begins his fourth season on Cortland's coaching staff in 2025-26. In his first three seasons on the staff, Walters has helped guide the Red Dragons to a 51-32 record, including one State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and one NCAA Division III tournament appearance. 

Walters played three seasons at Cortland from 2017-20. During the 2019-20, season he averaged 10.1 points per game and made 54 3-pointers in 26 contests, 16 as a starter. His final season was canceled in 2020-21.

In the spring of 2021, Walters played professionally for the Binghamton Bulldogs of the American Basketball Association. He also played in The Basketball League (TBL) with the Gulf Coast Lions (Sarasota, Fla.) in the spring of 2022 and the Syracuse Stallions in the spring of 2023.

A native of Lockport, N.Y., Walters earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Cortland in December 2019 and his master's degree in exercise science in May 2021. He also graduated with a master's degree in physical education from Cortland in the spring of 2025. 

He's a 2016 graduate of Starpoint High School, where he competed in basketball and baseball.
