Brendan Fitzpatrick begins his second season on the Cortland coaching staff in 2022-23 after a four-year playing career with the Red Dragons, including three as a starter, from 2016-20.
During his senior year in 2019-20, Fitzpatrick earned third-team All-SUNYAC honors after averaging 10.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. He led the conference in assists per game, 3-point shooting percentage (51.5) and free throw percentage (86.3), and he set the Cortland school single-season record for 3-point percentage. Fitzpatrick twice tied the school single-game record with 12 assists, and he ranked in the top 40 nationally in Division III in assists, free throw percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.46-to-1).
Fitzpatrick earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from Cortland in 2020. The Plainview, N.Y., native graduated from Plainview-Old Bethpage High School in 2016. He was a three-year starter in basketball and eclipsed the career 1,000-point mark, while earning honorable mention all-state honors as a senior, and also was an all-conference football player.
