The 2013-14 season is Jeremy Smith’s first as an assistant coach on the Red Dragon men’s basketball staff after an exceptional four-year career at Cortland. Smith, who earned a bachelor’s degree at the College, also serves as a lecturer in Cortland’s physical education department.
A three-year starter for the Red Dragons, Smith concluded his collegiate career as Cortland’s sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,362 points. As a junior, he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Div. III Upstate New York Championship game and to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. Smith earned second team All-SUNYAC honors and was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the SUNYAC Tournament as a senior. His 449 points in his final year are tied for ninth-best in a single season at Cortland.
A native of the Bronx, Smith was a two-time team MVP in basketball at Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy.
