The 2016-17 season is Chris Azzano’s second as an assistant coach on the Cortland men’s hockey staff. Azzano spent the 2014-15 season as the assistant coach at SUNY Canton, where he was the program’s primary recruiter.
Azzano played one season at Wentworth Institute of Technology before transferring to Morrisville St. In his three seasons as a Mustang, Azzano became the first goaltender to be named team captain and moved into second place in career saves. During his career, he was a three-time member of the SUNYAC All-Academic Team and was twice named to the SUNYAC Commissioner’s List.
Azzano, who received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Morrisville, has worked several hockey and goaltending camps in Ontario and most recently was a lead instructor at North Country Hockey Development in Canton, N.Y.
