The 2007-08 season is Jeanna (Angotti) Gates’ first as co-head coach of the Cortland women’s lacrosse team. Gates was an assistant coach at East Syracuse-Minoa High School for one season before serving as assistant coach at C.W. Baker from 2004-07.
Gates graduated from Cortland in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in health education and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in the same field at the College. She was a four-year starter for the Red Dragon women’s lacrosse team from 1999-2002, playing in 67 games with 65 starts. Gates currently stands first in career goals with 211 and fourth in career scoring with 250 points. She was a two-time second team All-American, three-time first team all-region and all-state selection, four-time first team All-SUNYAC pick and SUNYAC Player of the Year her sophomore season. The team posted a 58-13 record with four conference titles and four trips to the NCAA playoffs during her career.
Gates is a 1998 graduate of C.W. Baker, where she was a four-year starter in lacrosse, earning all-league and All-Central New York honors, and a two-year member of the swim team. She currently resides in Liverpool with her husband, Matt, who was a member of Cortland’s football team.
