Jose Lozano begins his first season as an assistant coach on the Cortland men’s soccer staff in 2009. Lozano began his coaching career working youth clinics in his native country of Peru. Upon moving to the United States, he coached and played for the San Francisco Glens and later served as a coach with the FC Wanderers.

Lozano embarked on a professional playing career after completing high school. He was drafted by U de America of the second division professional league and later selected to the U-20 Peruvian National Team. After two seasons with the U-20 team, Lozano attained a roster spot with Universitario de Deportes of the first professional division.

Over a span of five years, Lozano played with multiple professional teams in both the fall and spring seasons and received a tryout with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. He was a member of several league championship teams and accumulated eight goals and more than 100 assists as a defender.

Lozano currently resides in Ithaca with his wife, Kim, an MBA student at Cornell, and their three-year old daughter, Caitlin.
