Tyler Hochadel began his position as Cortland’s Throws Coach in the fall of 2021. During that time he has developed Isaiah Brunache to qualify for the NCAA Championships in three different events; Brunache was the NCAA runner-up in the outdoor shot put in 2023.
Hochadel’s program has been highlighted by four school records: Brunache in the men’s indoor and outdoor shot put along with the weight throw and Sarah Parr in the women’s hammer throw. Additionally Hochadel has had multiple athletes break into Cortland’s all-time top-5 performance lists: Mitch Makowski in the weight throw and hammer throw, Evan Collette in the weight throw and hammer throw, Hannah McMasters in the hammer throw, Jennifer Ndukwu in the weight throw and hammer throw, and both Isaiah Brunache and Nick Kaires in the discus throw.
Hochadel also currently serves as an assistant strength and conditioning coach where he primarily works with Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Men’s Ice Hockey, Gymnastics, and Softball.
During the 2019-2020 academic year Hochadel was an intern for Cortland’s strength and conditioning department while also serving as an assistant for the throws. In 2020-21 he was a strength and conditioning intern for the University at Buffalo’s Olympic sports and football program.
Hochadel, a 2019 SUNY Cortland graduate majoring in Fitness Development, was a four year member of Men’s Track and Field team where he specialized in the throws. He was a multiple conference and regional scorer and earned a spot in Cortland’s top five performance list for the hammer throw.
Hochadel is a current certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
A native of Buffalo N.Y., Hochadel currently resides in Cortland.
