Kristin Ciccone enters her second year as an assistant coach on the Cortland women’s basketball staff in 2011-12 after a four-year playing career with the Red Dragons that included three appearances in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Ciccone, who earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and is pursuing a master’s degree in health education at the College, scored 566 points in 103 games from 2005-09. As a junior, Ciccone started all 30 games, averaging 8.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She led the team in minutes played, assists and steals. As a senior, Ciccone started 28-of-29 games, averaged 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and led the squad in steals for a second straight year.
A native of Long Beach, N.Y., Ciccone is a 2005 graduate of Long Beach High, where she was a four-year starter on the basketball team, earning all-division honors as a junior and all-county honors as a senior. Ciccone also competed in soccer and lacrosse at Long Beach and was a two-time Academic All-American.
