Former Red Dragon All-American Emily Smuckler joined the Cortland coaching staff in 2008-09. A member of the Red Dragon squad from 2002-06, Smuckler earned All-America honors with a fourth-place national finish on vault as a sophomore in 2004.
The Southbury, Conn., native also tied for seventh on vault at the 2005 national meet and earlier that season set a school record on the event with a 9.725 versus Ithaca. In her senior season, Smuckler earned All-ECAC honors on vault when she tied for sixth in the event.
In addition to vaulting, Smuckler also competed on floor exercise for the Red Dragons. She recorded a 9.675 in the event against Ithaca and a 9.55 at the ECAC Championships during her junior year.
A Dean's List student at Cortland, Smuckler was a three-time all-state and All-New England selection as a member of the gymnastics team at Pomperaug High School.
