The 2017-18 season is Sierra Day’s first as a member of the Cortland women’s gymnastics coaching staff. Day, who is pursuing her master’s degree in sport management at the College, brings nine years of coaching experience to the program.

Most recently, Day served as team gymnastics coach and director of cheer and tumbling at the SunDance Studio in Monument, Colo., as well as a volunteer assistant women’s gymnastics coach at the United States Air Force Academy, event management specialist for Air Force Academy athletics and head cheerleading coach of Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Day earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and emphasis in sport psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May of 2014. She was co-founder and team captain of the women’s club gymnastics team and a three-year member and captain of the Coed Cheerleading Squad. Day also was nominated as one of 40 student-athletes to take part in the CU Student-Athlete Leadership Council.

A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Day competed in gymnastics, cheerleading, diving and pole vaulting for Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, earning all-state honors in gymnastics and cheerleading.
