Ashley Furia enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Cortland women’s ice hockey team in 2014-15 after a four-year playing career at the University of North Dakota. Prior to Cortland, Furia helped train the Colorado Springs Tigers U19 girls’ hockey team.
Furia, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2013 from North Dakota, was a four-year member of the women’s ice hockey team at forward and defense. While at North Dakota, she also was named to the Dean’s List.
A native of Sedalia, Colo., Furia earned a state championship in ice hockey and received the Hobey Baker Award while at Castle View High School. She earned two third-place national finishes with the Colorado Selects as well.
