Anya Eckhardt begins her first season as an assistant coach on the Red Dragon women’s lacrosse staff in 2015. Prior to Cortland, Eckhardt served as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Ithaca College and an assistant coach for the modified cross country team in the Owego school district.
Eckhardt graduated from Ithaca, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in health education and physical education as well as a master’s degree in health education and was a member of the Dean’s List. She played four seasons of lacrosse for the Bombers as a defender.
As a senior team captain, she earned honorable mention All-Empire 8 honors, was named to the Empire 8 All-Tournament Team and selected as Ithaca’s Empire 8 Women’s Lacrosse Sportswoman of the Year. Eckhardt also competed in the Div. III IWLCA North-South Senior Game.
A native of North Bennington, Vt., Eckhardt competed in cross country, Nordic skiing and lacrosse at Mount Anthony Union High School. Her teams won three state titles in skiing and one state championship in lacrosse.
