Elizabeth Sewruk begins her first season as co-head coach of the Cortland women’s lacrosse program in 2007-08. Prior to Cortland, Sewruk coached for one season at Chittenango Central School, two seasons at Bronxville Central School and was an assistant coach for one season at SUNY Geneseo.
Sewruk, who earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Cortland in 2002 and her master’s degree in special education from Long Island University in 2007, was a four-year starting member of the Red Dragon women’s lacrosse team as a defender.
During her career, Sewruk played in 71 games with 69 starts and recorded 211 ground balls, 44 draw controls and 60 caused turnovers. She was named first team all-region, all-state and All-SUNYAC as a sophomore and first team All-SUNYAC and honorable mention All-ECAC Upstate New York as a junior. The team compiled a 58-13 record, won four SUNYAC titles and made four NCAA playoff appearances in her four years.
A native of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Sewruk is a 1998 graduate of C.W. Baker, where she was a four-year starter on the lacrosse team and basketball team. She currently resides in Cicero with her fiancé, Kevin Boyle, who was a member of Cortland’s football team and served as an assistant coach for the 2001 season.
